Resources for Families During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

Coronavirus Resources

Below are some resources that may be useful to LELC parents or caregivers. Your teachers will be providing class-specific lessons and activities, but we have included some additional resources for virtual activities that your children may enjoy.

Resources for Navigating Coronavirus

  • For the latest information on LELC's school closures, visit our COVID-19 Update page. Please continue to monitor your email and Class Dojo page for updates as well.
  • If your family is experiencing any critical needs, please contact our school social worker, Keona Green.

Virtual Story Time

  • Story Time from Space: Your children can watch and listen to stories read by astronauts on the International Space Station!
  • Brightly Storytime: Brightly Storytime offers read aloud videos of picture-books perfect for LELC's age group.
  • Stay at Home Story Time: Every day at 2:00 pm EST your children can watch a picture-book read aloud with author Oliver Jeffers on Instagram Live. If you can't watch it at 2:00 pm, the video will be uploaded to YouTube after.
  • Josh Gad's Bedtime Stories: Children who love Olaf from Frozen may enjoy watching actor Josh Gad read a bedtime story live on Twitter (@JoshGad) or Instagram (@joshgad). Josh goes live at 9:00 pm EST every night.

Art Activities:

  • #DrawTogether with Wendy Macnaughton: Join bestselling illustrator Wendy Macnaughton on her Instagram Live page Monday-Friday at 1:00 pm EST for a drawing lesson.
  • Lunch Doodle with Mo Willems: Join children's book author and illustrator Mo Willems everyday at 1:00 pm EST to draw, doodle, and explore new ways of writing.

Physical Activities/Exercise:

  • Cosmic Kids Yoga: Cosmic Kids Yoga on YouTube gets children moving and makes yoga and mindfulness fun through the power of storytelling and imagination.
  • Patty Shukla's Dance, Action and Movement Songs: Children's singer Patty Shukla has created a YouTube playlist  of videos which encourage children to dance, jump, move, and exercise their motor skills.
  • Sesame Street's "Fun at Home Activities:" Our old friends from Sesame Street have compiled a YouTube playlist of videos with great activities to do at home, including "Freeze Dance" with Abby and "Monster Yoga" with Elmo and Grover.
