President’s Thoughts: Emergency Fund

Words from the President

Within days of Gov. Hogan’s mandate last March to close all Maryland schools because of the spiraling Covid-19 virus, Loyola Early Learning Center set up an Emergency Fund, supported by three generous donors, to assist our families according to their needs. The fund has provided support for food, medicine, transportation, rent, car repairs and even an education certification program.

Just before Thanksgiving, each of our 50 families received a $100 food and grocery gift card to help them celebrate our quintessential American family holiday in a proper and fitting manner.

With focused dedication, LELC reflects the 470-year Jesuit model of cura personalis, that is, personal care of each and every student and their families. This long tradition of Jesuit schools has its roots in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola, which emphasize God’s personal love and care for all persons throughout their life’s journeys.

God’s loving care for the well-being of each and every one of us sets the model for us at LELC to emulate. We try to offer the same love and care for our students and their families in all that we do, including by way of our Emergency Fund. We are always grateful to our caring benefactors.

God bless you and your loved ones. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
